Purpose: The purpose of MATS is to promote the teaching, study, performance and promotion of Argentine Tango Dancing, and matters relating to such activities in the city of Memphis and surrounding areas.
Mandatory Dues: MATS cannot carry out its purpose and activities without a regular and certain stream of dues paid by all Members. Accordingly, the following rules apply:
- All Members are required to pay quarterly dues, whether or not they attend practice sessions, Milongas, lessons, or other MATS events. Dues are fixed and are not assessed based on the number of times during the month that a person may choose to attend any particular practice or other event.
- The current dues are $15 per quarter and are subject to change by MATS from time to time. A Notice will be given by email of any changes. College students are $8 per quarter.
- Quarterly dues are collected the first week of the beginning of each quarter (January, April, July, and October) or can be paid in full for the year. A record of membership and dues paid will be kept with the Treasurer of MATS.
Membership Benefits:
- Members receive free practice time on Wednesday nights at TheatreWorks.
- Free access to the Monthly Milongas.
- Members will also have the first option of private lessons when MATS has visiting instructors.
- Members will receive discounts on workshops. Member students will receive a discount equal to the larger of the workshop discount or the student discount.
- Only members will be allowed to become officers of MATS.

Non-Members: For those choosing not to become members of MATS, there will be a charge of $5 per Wednesday night practices and $10 for Monthly Milongas attended. A one month grace period will be given to beginners.
